About The Artwork

Aro meta in Yoruba literally means the tripod or the proverbial three-legged stool. It carries an even deeper meaning into the customs and mysteries of rituals in Yorubaland. Aro Meta symbolizes stability or balance. Here in this piece, I am addressing a political meaning for Aro Meta figuratively. In Yoruba cosmology three indicates unity, most stools have three stands for balance or stability, politically it symbolizes order. In other words, out of the chaos and turmoil of life struggles, we must find order. I capture contemporary trends, culture, designs, lifestyle, nature and technological innovations, with the female figure serving as an embodiment of all.
