About The Artwork

Named for the goddess of falling stars, this piece shimmers and sparkles beautifully as the light catches it.. Reminiscent of a magic carpet it ripples over the wall appearing soft and floaty despite being constructed from hard materials. A highly unique work covered in a striking variety of black and white porcelain and glass, interspersed with eye-catching 24k white gold and thousands of tiny beads. An original, one of a kind, statement piece for the collector who appreciates the unusual. Asteria is published in my book ‘Sculptural Secrets for Mosaic’ (Schiffer Publishing USA). It will be sent with a signed copy of the book plus a certificate of authenticity and a certificate of registration on the NRAA (National Registry of Australian Artists). A small metal plaque on the lower edge has my name. The work is signed, titled, and dated on the back. It is fitted with 2 sets of D rings and wire for your choice of hanging vertically or horizontally. Asteria will arrive in a custom plywood box.

Artist Statement “When the paint is dry my work is just beginning”. The thought that paint could be capable of independence from the canvas has been the driving force behind Julee’s art practice. It led to her process of creating paintings on plastic waiting for the paint to dry before she removes it. The unsupported material has an inherent flexibility that allows Julee to investigate her interest in textile, collage, and sculptural techniques. Through cutting, layering, moulding, weaving, and gluing, each creation is the result of many hours of meticulous and detailed work. An artist since childhood, Julee holds a BFA (Sculpture and Painting) from Curtin University, Perth. She is also the author of the book Sculptural Secrets for Mosaic (Schiffer Publishing Ltd, USA). Her works can be found in collections, both public and private, worldwide.
