Art Description

Sculpture: Resin, Paint, Perspex, Ink, Stone on Marble, Stone, Plastic, Other.

Inspired by the land and sea that surrounds me here in Ireland, I created this sculpture after noting a beautiful band of pink running across the sky at sunset one evening. This band is known as "Band of Venus'.
This sculpture is double sided and the disk can be lifted out of its stone base for easy transport.
My method of painting with resin involves creating layers upon layers of resin mixed with other inks, pastes and paints. Some parts of each layer are transparent and some parts are opaque. This means my work ends up showing great depth and movement. I would like the audience to feel as if they are moving through the landscape as they view my work.

This sculpture is a double sided painting (disc) set into an Alabaster stone base. The disc element is highly glossy while the stone retains it's natural finish on top and slightly polished on the sides. My signature is carved into the side/rim of the disc.
