Contemporary artist, inventor and business mogul Brian Zheng has lived a distinctive life that emerges through his work. Zheng’s artistic project’s combine the precise stylings of traditional Chinese art with American Western culture. In 2012 the LA Modern & Contemporary Art Show featured his fortune cookie themed paintings and sculptures which helped establish him as an artist to watch. “Art is in my blood,” says Zheng “I love color and shape. It expresses my feelings about life”. In 1985 Zheng met Mrs. Kaye Hale who welcomed him into her home where he lived with her family for two years. Hale, which Zheng refers to as his “American mother” is a quarter Native American hailing from the Spokane tribe of Washington. Hale worked for a museum of Native culture in Spokane where Zheng was an avid visitor and where he would develop a love for Native art and life. He learned a lot about Native American culture while living with the Hale’s and this knowledge inspired his current work. The free brush stroke and vibrant colors Zheng uses as well as the contemporary form and shape help symbolize the free lifestyle of the Native people. He has participated in the LA Art Show, Pacific Asia Contemporary Show and the 2012 China International Gallery Exposition. He is a member of the California Art Club and the Portrait Society of America.
