About The Artwork
Big Red was created from an estimated 150 year old Mesquite tree burl. There were multiple branches emanating from the burl. I retained the branches in order to preserve the natural characteristics of the burl. After trimming, removing bark and sanding to 2000 grit, the exterior was finished with three coats of hand rubbed natural oil. The interior was hand carved to follow the exterior contours, a red acrylic paint applied, and finished with a clear bar top resin. The bowl can be used for display in a prime location in your home decor, or could also be used to hold fruit, vegetables or other condiments. Please enjoy Big Red!
