Inspiration This ceramic wall sculpture is part of a series of six artworks called "Shifting Geometrics". It is a continued exploration into my geometric abstractions. With this artwork I set out to create a wall sculpture to harness geometric forms thrown on the potter wheel. I wanted to keep the colours simple by just focusing on blue, black and white. I used the contrasting forms and colour along with glaze to enhance the contrast in the form. Traditionally sculpture is seen as a free-standing piece however I wanted to continue to investigate the effects sculpture can have placed on a wall. This ceramic wall sculpture sits in a frame almost like a painting. I hope this wall sculpture can inspire curiosity and playfulness into your life. .................................................................................................. I am a multimedia artist based in Somerset UK creating ceramic sculpture and painting. Why do I create art? Through art, I am able to step back and breathe in the beauty of exploration and self-discovery. Art provides me the freedom to explore my human potential and my desire to keep learning about myself and the world around me. What inspires me? The ancient monument Stonehenge, located not too far away from my studio, serves as a constant source of inspiration. The towering stones beckon me to question the mysteries of, belief, spirituality, time, space, the nature of reality, society and the human experience. What is my Art? I channel these ideas into my art. The results are unique and quirky, colourful, vibrant with a hint of depth, engineered with attention to detail, a study of the effects of form, colour and light. It is Abstract and Surreal, reflecting the world we inhabit and partly escaping it. When it comes to materials I don’t like to limit myself. For my sculptures I use a verity of clays, vibrant colours and glossy glazes. My paintings uncover an amalgamation newspaper, colourful oozing acrylic paints, reflective varnished surfaces and unconventional household paints. The sky is the limit! My Mission? My mission is to create art that can enhance, add value and uniqueness to any space or home. I would like it to transport you to a place of curiosity and imagination.
