Claudine Gévry is a multidisciplinary artist who dreams of creating a magical world where the vicissitudes of life are replaced with surprise and delight. She is inspired by artists like American sculptor Alexander Calder, inventor of the art of mobiles, as well as technology oriented & experimental artists like Amsterdam-based Studio Drift. Living on the West Coast of Canada, Claudine’s art is greatly influenced by her environment. Nature’s fragility, its impermanence and its ability to adapt to different circumstances are among the themes nurturing her work. Over the last few years, Claudine started integrating lighting technology in her traditional metal wire & kinetic sculptures. To help her achieve her vision in 2019 she co-founded Umbra & Lux, an innovative sculptural lighting company. Regularly exhibited in art galleries, her sculptural light installations can also be found in corporate settings like the University of British Columbia Pharmaceutical Sciences Building and in the offices of biotechnology company, AbCellera, in Vancouver. Originally from Montreal, Claudine now lives and dreams in Vancouver, Canada. Member of the Sculptors' Society of BC, CARFAC, the Eastside Culture Crawl & The Cloud Appreciation Society (UK).
