CUFFS COULEUR vases made with various shades of colored porcelain and detailed with gold luster. Interior of the void is covered with clear glossy glaze while the exterior remains an unglazed matte porcelain clay body. Design variations of the upper part symbolically shows progression from ‘cuffed’ state (represented by golden trail connecting two openings) to ‘liberation’( represented by open edges). Under the intense heat in the kiln, disconnected edges deform differently each in its own sculptural way. Thinness of the vase walls complement the delicacy of the flower petals. Vase can be filled with water up to 3”, that is more than enough to feed the flower. Cut-out design offers new possibilities for floral arrangements. This ceramic object can act as a vase for a single flower or a bouquet, while it is sculptural and articulated to be object d’art in and of itself. 2022, Colored Porcelain, Gold Luster, Clear glaze interior

Evgeniya Plotnikova of EVG.WORKS is a ceramic artist and a practicing architect. Born and raised in Siberia, she has lived in Chicago, New York and currently resides in Seattle. Her journey in ceramics started in a Brooklyn clay studio with the interest of releasing a creative energy and exploring a fascination with the material. The interest grew into passion that led to setting up a home studio to play and clay. Designs are developed by experimenting with hand building techniques and have a contemporary design sensibility. EVG.WORKS designs are functional Art. Most of them are vessels that hold a water, others hold a space. They act as a vase for a single flower or a bouquet, creating new possibilities for floral arrangements, while they are sculptural and articulated to be object d’art in and of themselves. They are full of vitality, and if you were to listen to them carefully, they might tell you some of their secrets.
