About The Artwork

This pendant is inspired by the exuberant opulance of the Venetian Carnival. This piece has been elaborated with intricate glass swirls, and has a bumpy, tactile quality. One of the bumps has a Gilson opal encased within it. When reflected by natural sunlight, that opal beams out a bright green and garnet light. The back of the pendant has been fumed with sterling silver which gives the piece soft golden glow. I have never made a piece that quite resembles this one, and it is truly one of a kind. The inner diameter of the clasp measures 7mm, large enough for a chain or cord. This pendant has been kiln annealed for added durability, and to bring out the true boro colors of this striking, or color changing glass. I hope that the individual who wears this piece feels the excitement and color of life's carnival!

Nicole Seaton is a flameworker who divides her time between Northern Nevada, California and Hawaii. Raised on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe, Seaton gained an early appreciation for hours lost in creation during Tahoe's snowy winters. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno, earning a dual major in Spanish and International Relations. Seaton studied abroad in Argentina and the Basque country, and she speaks Basque and Spanish. While she never took an art class in college, her artistic career began at the tender age of seven, when she discovered the bead store. Her astute grandmother realized that the inquisitive child was content for hours with a few beads and a ball of twine. After two decades of jewelry-making, Seaton decided to learn how to make her own beads. Today, Seaton ships her glass to every corner of the globe. JavaFlame Glass is currently shown in galleries throughout Northern Nevada and California. Although jewelry is her preferred medium, Seaton also makes small glass sculptures and digital art with closeups of her glass pieces. Seaton was a Burning Man artist for two decades, and feels that the event has been an intrinsic part of shaping her art and worldview.
