ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I was inspired by the early Celtic designs, and was intrigued to see how this would work in this unusual alabaster marble. The polished pale pink reflects the light and shows the detail in the knot work from every angle. Stainless steel base measures: 25cm high, 5cm x 5cm

I express my sculpture through the medium of stone, metal and wood. As a ‘direct carver’ I carve stone without first producing a model, working with materials sourced as close as possible to my location. I live in New Zealand, but was born in Africa, and was named after my Greek uncle, a squadron leader in the RAF. I have sculpted all my life, heavily influenced by the Matebele and Mashona direct sculptors. Aged 17 I moved to London. I studied stonecarving at the City and Guilds of London Art School. My sculpture had been exhibited internationally, from the Cork Street Gallery in London to the International Art Centre in Auckland.
