A person and his convictions, every conviction has a story. Sometimes it is innocent and sometimes deserved. In this artwork, I tell you about the spiritual conviction. It is more accurate to say that our souls are convicted in our bodies. A prisoner waiting for his freedom lying down in four wall cells. Since I use perspective in this work, looking at the center black area for a few seconds allows us to understand the depth of this cell.
In this study, I worked with the method of deforming the wood as worn cell walls. I used many different materials to give this feeling.I used pigment dye, powder paint, acrylic, airbrush for detail shading and gold foil.

Koray Akay was born in 1984 in Ankara, Turkey. He studied Industrial Electronics. In 2004 he established his own studio where he started his painting work. Then, he produced his first work using wooden material. His multimedia practice includes wood wall sculpture, paintings, installation, digital painting. He delves into the living veins of wood, and without damaging its natural living quality, adds the light of his own consciousness to turn it into a work of art in which all his wishes are expressed in a new language.
