This little guy certainly has style. I created him from wood (body), bark (jacket), an Echinops flower (head) and pieces of suede (pockets and cuffs). Add a touch of polymer clay and acrylic paint and a lot of hard work and voilà!

I was born and raised in Abitibi, a remote region of Québec known for its expansive forests and lakes. At a very young age, I accompanied my grandfather on lengthy fishing trips during which I learned to observe nature and cultivate patience, qualities that are now evident in my art. I often describe myself as a sculptor-gatherer, as nature provides not only the raw materials from which I create my artworks, but also an inexhaustible source of inspiration. Each piece is the result of a lengthy process that usually begins with one central element that sparks my imagination. This is often a piece of wood whose peculiar shape evokes a body in motion, or a particularly expressive pose. Sometimes, the wood also embodies a physical trait that gives the character an unconventional personality. Additional elements are then added, selected and transformed so as to achieve a delicate balance between shapes, colours and textures. I use different assemblage techniques, refined over the years, to ensure the solidity of the work while allowing for a harmonious combination of its components. I love to create for people, to see them be amazed and fascinated by the beauty of the world around us. My sculptures help them escape for a moment and see the world in a different way. I sometimes wonder if I will eventually run out of ideas for my sculptures. Fortunately, it seems that every new piece of material I collect brings with it its own, unique character and a renewed promise of a totally original creation. I am currently represented by 5 galleries in Québec, Canada
