Denial Sculpture

I was inspired by the charred bodies found in Pompeii Italy, Vesuvius eruption 79AD. Different bodies in different poses. Each body a testament in time of the attitudes towards the inevitability of impending death. In my art piece I express a moment with a dynamic movement, a last act of denial to the face of inevitability. I want the viewers to to feel this the action and witness the despair. I chose bronze, gold colour and a figurative style to realise this art piece, much like the Roman bronze statues of old. Any similarities with the classic stop there. I create a unique texture to express the desperation in the final moments before the fire consumes completely the body.
