Do The Russians Want This! (suspended painted sculpture) Sculpture

I find painting and sculpting provides me with solitude where I can escape and create. I have lived in Zihuatanejo, Mexico, and traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and South America. In addition, I have exhibited my work throughout the globe and I am in several private collections. I have been painting and sculpting since childhood. And as long as I can remember I have always included the form of a “circle” in my drawings, paintings, or sculptures. Later in life, when I studied Carl Jung, I realized the “circle or mandala” as it has been called represented the “self”, which was a process known as individuation, in which various aspects of personality are integrated. I find painting three-dimensional is very inspirational. Currently, one of the directions I have taken in my art is the study of Energy through Paintings and Suspended Painted Sculptures. When the “Suspended / Hanging Sculptures” are hung, they theoretically come alive, because the slightest breeze in the room, causes the piece to move like a mobile. And although my suspended art is positioned as sculpture, my art equally aligns with painting, effectively blurring the boundaries between the two media. A few of the artists that I truly admire and are inspirational towards my works are, Lee Bul, Phyllida Barlow, Howard Hodgkin, Alexander Calder, and Man Ray.
