Doll (Bobbins) Sculpture

...Meet "Doll (Bobbins.)" She is one of a series of art dolls I made for an exhibition titled "Mend and Measure." ...This sculpture is made with paper clay, covered in vintage sewing pattern paper and painted with acrylics. Her limbs become found objects...the tools for her own making. ...Her limbs are attached with hook and eye. ...There is a small sleeve in her back which slides over a carbon fiber rod that can be inserted in the wall. She is easily installed and lit for shadows. Rod included. ...She comes packed in a hollowed out foam clamshell box and can be stored as necessary. ...Photograph is from an exhibition. Doll can be lit for interesting wall shadows. ...I received a Minnesota State Arts Board Grant to develop this work for exhibition. This work has traveled for exhibitions in Maryland, Washington State, Rhode Island and Tennessee.
