The emotion and power of the New Zealand landscape is a continual source of inspiration for my art. Through the medium of glass, I respond to the lights and shades of our land, from the reflections of the earthy sundrenched Central Plateau through to the striking rich colours of the New Zealand coastlines. Using the translucence and reflective qualities of glass, and the matte finish I can create pieces which change in different lights just as the landscape changes. I also work to achieve a textural quality on the surface of each piece, again reflecting the organic composition of nature. I am continually challenged by the qualities of glass developing ways to manipulate the liquid material to evoke the beauty of my place. Accolades: Norsewear Glass Award, 'Excellence in Glass' award in the Molly Morpeth Canaday Exhibition, Colour Award in the NZ Society of Glass Exhibition
