Elephant: Yellow Grey Sculpture

Sculpture: Concrete and iron oxides on Other. These elephants are part of a series of elephants going back to 1995 when the first one was carved from a chunk of aerated concrete found on the street, which looked vaguely like an elephant to me. Since then I have only made elephants, and though I did once try to carve a bird, it remains unfinished and it has been pahcyderms all the way! The elephants have continued to evolve in materials and scope, and these ones are similar to those found on the streets of London as part of a wider street art project called 'We Are People'. There are now more than 30 elephants fixed guerilla style around London. See more at
