8" x 16" x 8" 25.40 cm x 40.64 cm x 20.32 cm My love of nature inspires my portraying expressive figures and wilderness scenes. I sculpt because it depicts rich form capturing life-like beauty while telling a detailed, multi-dimensional story. While visiting Jasper Park Lodge in Canada one year, Rick watched a bull elk emerging from a wooded area with one female from his harem. All my pieces are sculpted in oil-based clay, and then cast in bronze using the 'lost wax method'. Commissions are really welcome, as they carry with it the inspiration and love of another person. I am there to add, inspire and create. This is a limited series of 30 with each one signed and numbered.

Rick was born in 1952 and raised on the shores of Lake Erie, in Erie Pennsylvania. He received his formal art training at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh where he graduated in 1976 and later worked as a graphic designer at Welch’s in a small town in Westfield, NY. In the early 1980’s he moved to Los Angeles, CA and started working at Hughes Aircraft as a graphic designer and retired 27 years later. He turned his attention to sculpture in the late 1990’s. In Los Angeles he studied at Santa Monica City College, Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, and Otis College of Art and Design, Los Angeles, but he is mostly self-taught. Over the course of his 17 year sculpting career, he has studied under many well known sculptors including Scott Rogers and Sandy Scott.
