About The Artwork

This artwork is a mixture between sculpture and painting, coinceived for garderns' decorations. The sculpture "Fantasie" is composed by two parts: a wooden base, painted white and a plexiglass panel where the main subject, a floral fantasy stands out on a blue background while a pinstiped cloth unites the two parts. The special resins used for this creation make this artwork highly resistent to the elements.

One of the most beautiful things for me is to talk about painting, colours and design; something I've always done. Painting is fascinating and passionate. My suggestion is to be able to transfer on to canvas that my eyes through the filter of my soul. I could lose myself within time and continue to work to infinity without realising. Lukily I have people around me who bring me back to reality from my artistic full immersion. I work on canvas, wood and plexiglass. The paintings on canvas are united by a wooden frame and they continue on the frame giving it distinct metaphysical properties. To obtein the same absorbment of colours, both on canvas and on wood, I prepare a paste with special glues, chalk from Bologna and water. I put it in various layers on the material I'm going to paint; this helps the colour to be absorbed better, gives a better brightness and is garanteed to last. The next phase is to paint by the antique technique of glazing, using mony layers of oil colours diluted with essenze of petroleum. In these last few years I've transferred this very traditional type of painting on to a modern support plexiglass. This has been possible thanks to the invention of a medium inserted between the material to be painted and the colours; adapting the plexiglass to the antique glazing technique. I also add transparent effects inserting in certain spaces only pure water based colours, which, above the plexiglass remain see-through and faded just like coloured glass. The finished work is protected by a polyurethane catalyzed varnish which makes the item washable. This research with new materials is finalised by collecting splashes of colour and a glazing of antique experiences. The subjects painted by me have a versatile value: in each of my works there is never only one reason for the choice of the subject, or the tecnique, or the crhomatic effect; it has to be born and finish in a harmonic symbiosis of all the chosen elements. To continue the artistic discussion about paintings "out of a frame" (in which the design comes out of the canvas and continues its prospective, creating a never-ending continuation) I have created the "lantoni". The word "lantoni"(derived from my name) is a name that I have patented to define my paintings on globes of plexiglass.
