About The Artwork
This is one of the first brick ladies I made. I was just getting to know this wonderful material which is not easy to mould. The clay is very fatty and sticky so I kept it simple in the beginning. This is one of my favorite ladies. She is introverted and still. Sleepy maybe dreamy or thinking about stuff. She is very interesting company

I mostly make little women Ik maak vrouwtjes Mostly out of clay, but I love casting them in bronze or sculpting out of stone. I suppose my little women are me, but they turn out exactly the way they want. Shy, bored, seriously pissed off, it is surprising to me how expressive they are. My inspiration come from the great sculpture such as Marino Marini and Charlotte van Palandt.
