"Four Elements (Earth, Water, Air and Fire)" Sculpture

Of Turkish-Romanian origins, Yildiz Ibram is born in Cernavoda, in the Romanian Dobrudja, and she lives and works in Istanbul since 1995. In her works of decorative art Yildiz revives the Otoman aesthetic traditions and their links with the Valach space, all the while approaching the objects and their deisgn in a modern angle. Yildiz proposes both a stylizing in modern key of the traditional aesthetic elements, and an essentialization of the message along with bringing in actuality and in public’s attention the perennial character of the Ottoman style and its ceramics. The deocrative theme and their display on the delicate objects that can be used in daily routines give a dimension apart to her works, remind thourhg its organic forms of the art-nouveau movement with an oriental twist. Both the ceramic objects and the fine painting that decorates them are handmade in Yildiz’s workshop in the heart of Istanbul.
