This mixed-media texture sculpture artwork was inspired by the idea that we have our own “gold mine”- creative potential- by discovering and revealing which we enhance every area of our life, and it depicts a 3-D rock cave with a “liquid molten gold” river where gold mining takes place. About the Artist

Lora Kochetkova

United States

Lora Kochetkova (She/Her) is an emerging multidisciplinary, intuitive, self-taught artist from the former USSR living and working in Los Angeles, CA. She has always been an artist, but art was a hobby, and at the age 55, she proved that following your passion is never too late. After a long career in education and banking, Lora consciously chose to self-identify as an artist. She works from a home studio in Porter Ranch, CA, USA. To this day, Lora is discovering her artistic voice and promoting fine art based on craft art techniques because this practice is vastly undervalued in the art world. She likes experimenting with various media: artisan felting, repurposed textiles and fibers, acrylic paints, heavy texture mediums, and unconventional materials like coffee, sand, or even odd objects to create layered, textured surfaces and surreal, bold, three-dimensional imagery creations. Her art journey lies in the inspirational adventure, and Lora remembers the child within who was created without expectations. She seeks to evoke the haunting persistence of memory and the delicate balance between vulnerability and strength. Her creations feel deeply personal and reflective, almost like part of a larger story or series exploring complex emotions and experiences. Lora approaches each artwork as a new conversation that challenges her as a visual storyteller who invites the viewers to connect through visual and tactile contact. Dedicating herself to this journey saved her, brought her hope and joy, and, with enough gratitude, gave her a new life, and she is so grateful to share her soul with the world.
