About The Artwork

From Greek God series. Both Hermes and Ganesha guard crossroads. They're tricksters and dream scramblers....also muses. My muse. The back of the sculpture is inlaid with a stairway to land of dreams and creation, poems and mandala. I made this sculpture after a trip to India, where I saw Ganesha everywhere---and even took a ride atop of an elephant. Sculpture is ready to sit on your desk in your library, office, desktop---wherever you feel a need to overcome obstacles and cross the crossroads in life.

My art follows the female form through time, culture, history and myth. Since my early school days I decided it was rather upsetting that in history books, there were no stories about women. Consequently I devoted myself --from the beginning of my consciousness and creativity - to bring the stories and images of women to the forefront in my art and writing. I am interested in their beauty, strength, ability to spring back, courage and playfulness. The women in my extended family were no-nonsense ladies who all worked. I had good teachers. I am a multi-disciplined artist: I write, sculpt, print and paint. Most all of my work is done with paper.
