Hidden Gem table Sculpture

This table has “hidden” pieces of mica an milar, that are buried in layers of resin, acrylic paint and dyes. As the light at the perfect angle hits these “gems” they sparkle and glow and give the table a magical radiance. There is a fluidity and flowing quality to this piece, giving it a deep ocean or under water feel. The chrome base’s sleek design and curves has the feel of jewelry prongs holding an opal. The table stands 29.5” high and is 45” in diameter. The work was inspired from watching nature programs of the deep mysterious ocean, exploring the depths of the ocean is similar to exploring the depths of our minds. As we have the courage to dive into our inner world we often discover "hidden treasures" I hope the viewers enjoy exploring the piece, it is full of layers and "hidden gems" that can change based on different lighting conditions. I hope to spark the viewers imagination.
