About The Artwork
This is a real Scottish red deer skull which I have embellished with over 4000 black glass rhinestones. The inlay is designed with golden rhinestones and filled with 24karat gold leaf. This is a striking piece for any home, and the last of the 2014 Halloween collection from Virginia the Wolf. Virginia the Wolf makes osteo art and bespoke jewellery from ethically sourced animal bones and skulls. Each piece is truly unique and completely hand made in London by Kat Arnold, the brains behind Virginia the Wolf. Adding a sense of contemporary fashion to authenticly natural products applies the juxtaposition that we feel about death and nature today. By using natural and striking man-made embellishment, Virginia the Wolf is trying to recreate a chiasm between the two social dichotomies of nature and man-made, reminding us that death is near, but it can also be celebrated with the beauty of aesthetics.
