About The Artwork
Zimbabwean Springstone is sometimes referred to as Dreamstone. Legend has it the sculpture is already in the stone, the sculptor's job is merely to release. I looked hard into the stone to see what I might release and carved more freely than usual to allow the stone to dominate my actions rather than the other way around. This baby emerged, sleeping and peaceful, hopefully content with the way in which I brought him or her into the world.
