About The Artwork

Beautifully sparkling, highly textural glass and mirror mosaic sculpture that features rich reds offset with dramatic black, glittering gold and bursts of vivid orange. Warm, unusual and inviting, Hybrid is an incredibly unique statement piece for a contemporary home. An embedded hook on the back allows the work to hang neatly on the wall. Hybrid is published in my book ‘Sculptural Secrets for Mosaic’ (Schiffer Publishing USA). It will be sent with a a certificate of authenticity. The Mosaic Collection Highly unique, hand made sculpture covered in mixed media, dimensional mosaic. After many years as a professional mosaic sculptor, I exhibited widely, both in Australia and internationally. I taught the artform in college and completed many art residencies in Melboure schools. I also wrote the book Sculptural Secrets for Mosaic’ (Schiffer Publishing, USA). Each of the works in this series is featured in this book. Some of them have their own chapter dedicated to their creation. This is the first time these works have been for sale. Each sale is accompanied by a signed copy of the book, which currently sells internationally on all major online bookstores.

Artist Statement “When the paint is dry my work is just beginning”. The thought that paint could be capable of independence from the canvas has been the driving force behind Julee’s art practice. It led to her process of creating paintings on plastic waiting for the paint to dry before she removes it. The unsupported material has an inherent flexibility that allows Julee to investigate her interest in textile, collage, and sculptural techniques. Through cutting, layering, moulding, weaving, and gluing, each creation is the result of many hours of meticulous and detailed work. An artist since childhood, Julee holds a BFA (Sculpture and Painting) from Curtin University, Perth. She is also the author of the book Sculptural Secrets for Mosaic (Schiffer Publishing Ltd, USA). Her works can be found in collections, both public and private, worldwide.
