Artist Strahil Petrovski represents his search for personal identity through the labyrinths of the dynamic and confusing technological present of information chaos through a number of diverse unities with an underlined symbolical potential. In formal terms, the unities that complete this visual narration are basically envisioned as a synthesis of two contradictory extremes: abstraction and figuration. The abstract point of the paintings, points to the need to define identity in compliance with certain patterns represented in civilizational and cultural layers, which "come in layers," are "torn to pieces", "creak at the seams" or "diffuse" and are drawn in neutral "colors": black, white and gray with splashes of the material that ranges from expressively strong moves and thick layers of hue to dark lyrical, esthetic and sensory undertones. The artistic creations, which are made with a combination of different techniques, dark tones and geometric shapes (like the basis of Malevich's Black Square), depict a certain nostalgic attitude toward the primordial and sincere past and point to an arduous quest for the foundation, digging through the accumulated layers of what defines us as individuals and removing the obstacles out of the way of the right to free choice. His work is held in private and public collections in the Balkan countries, including museums, galleries and libraries.
