ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This piece was inspired by two important factors- memories of my father swinging around these very Indian Clubs when I was a child, and my respect for Marcel DuChamp and his iconic 'Nude Descending a Staircase' painting. It holds a rhythmic, flowing balance suggesting movement, emphasized by the openings in the clubs and the addition of the charred club at the top. It is a morphing of the organic, the modern and the primitive .
