About The Artwork

I bring from this work the concept of "New greening": how to be greener in our behaviors, individual and social. It is a work that emerges from my Honeycomb project in which I have been working for more than two years and where I try to discuss notions of nature and the environment. Ecological relationships suppose a fragile, unstable contingency, a dynamic and symbiotic system. Everything we do matters to the extent that we affect other human and non-human entities. This broader project includes photography, installations, and sculptures. My relationship with textiles is initially related to my mother, who taught me to knit, sew and embroider clothes for my dolls. She always saw her making clothes for me. This aspect of the feminine, as a moment of connection with the intimacy of home space and time, is present at the time of my creations. Later, my apprenticeship with the great Argentine artist Delia Cancela made me delve into textile sculptures professionally. My creations have a hybrid aspect. They refer to the folds and movements of the kingdom natural, where force and duration are measured by intensities that are foreign to us. This mutant skin fires the imagination through different perceptual adventures. All my production refers to the idea of becoming and a beauty where the constant mutation of nature gives the stitch that refers to the passage of time.

Susana Cabrera (Buenos Aires, 1950) Contemporary Argentine artist, Cabrera portrays the Impermanence and Aura of the elements through different disciplines, mainly photography, textiles and drawing. Her conception of Beauty is close to orientalist aestheticism, where the evolution of time, rhythms, the spiritual, the ephemeral, are part of the content and form. Her works have a hybrid aspect, even indeterminate. The choice of materials, overlays, transparencies, and microscopic observation of the elements are constants in her production. As she is also a Psychiatrist, science and research are always present. From the micro to the macro and vice versa, in a poetic game. She participated with his works in Mumbat'23, El Obrador '23, Mumbat '22, José Hernández Popular Art Museum '22, MacSur '21, Festival of Light, Caraffa Museum, Women's Museum, Romulo Raggio Museum, BAphoto '19 and '20 (Argentina); Artrooms Edition, London 2019; Collective Joalharia de Autor and Colorida Gallery in Portugal; Water Museum, Colombia 2019; ARTonPAPER ́20 NY 2020, Pre World Textile Biennial Chile ́20, among others. She attends Delia Cancela's clinic. She studied with Ernesto Pesce, Jorge Gamarra, Eduardo Stupía, Ana Laura Cantera, Mariana Schapiro, Francisca Kwitel, Eduardo Gómez, Laura Saud, and Francine Schloeth, among others. Her works have been exhibited in Argentina, Japan, England, Spain, Italy and the United States. She lives in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
