Art Description

Sculpture: Metal, Steel, Found Objects, Cement on Stainless Steel, Other.

The rooster has served in cultures as a symbol of courage, honesty, strength, and flamboyance. The rooster holds many of the characteristics of a King. It was deemed the leader into the day literally announcing victory over the night (darkness). Often times, the rooster was seen as the guide to illumination.
Unfortunately, our potential, contemporary kings (U.S. Presidential Candidates) hold the unaspiring symbolic qualities of a leader (King). The rooster is still a defining icon in America (specifically farm life) despite no longer holding the same value to today’s farm. The rooster is losing its quality to society, much like today’s “Kings”; Presidents who are seen more as puppets, and where voting has become a joke.
