About The Artwork
Originality and now are combined in this sculptural body from the Light Growth series. The massive main body flows into a powerful ring structure - a thick, three-tiered light body. This is formed in several layers of silicone and acrylic and flexibly cured. Its upper segment is stepped like a staircase. The light body is removable so that the installed light bulb can be changed. Through very massive structures, black-beige, white-reddish colour nuances penetrate to the surface from all layers. Inside the main body is a light channel with an LED bulb. When the light is switched on, there is - figuratively speaking - a very light-intensive blossoming. The RGB light colour can be changed with a remote control. A part of the creative work is the reuse - upcycling - and reshaping of previously used plastics and materials. Kerstin Amend Pohlig's main concern is to give value back to what has apparently become worthless - in unusual aesthetics with a lasting sense of purpose.
