Born in Georgetown, British Guiana, Astri Reusch has worked for several decades in sculpture, glass and major architectural realizations. Reusch currently works as professional Artist-in-Residence at the Pilchuck Glass School, north of Seattle, founded by Dale Chihuly, having studied there previously with the Czech masters Stanislav Libensky and Jaroslava Brychtova.Works by Astri Reusch, have been exhibited at museums and galleries such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC, the Corning Museum of Glass, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris, the Seibu Museum in Tokyo, the Glass Museum of Finland and others. Site-specific architectural work by the artist have been integrated into the public areas of museums, corporate and government buildings, including the monumental sculpture La Débâcle in the main hall of the Musée National de la Civilisation in Québec City and sculptural works and glass walls in the entrance halls of the IntelSat Corporation Building in Washington DC and a number of cultural centers, corporate headquarters, libraries and schools.Work by the artist is in the collections of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Musée National de la Civilisation in Québec City, the Government of Québec (Ministre des Affaires Internationales), Teleglobe Inc. in Washington DC, Eschergrad Corporation, Jaykin Technologies, Bell Canada Enterprises and Bombardier Inc., in addition to numerous private collections. Astri Reusch has also served on the jury of the Art in Architecture Program of the Québec Government and the Board of Directors of the Montreal Glass Center and lectured at the Interglas International Glass Symposium in the Czech Republic, the Glass Art Society, Glass Art Canada, the Sheridan College School of Design, Artists in Stained Glass and the Visual Arts Centre of Montreal.
