Legola was a prototype, and like most prototypes she is the best.....but also because I haven't had time for the others yet, the usual frustration of too many ideas and not enough time.
Lego are quite brilliant and reinvent everyday, I can't beat that but I feel Legola has qualities different to that, just that she is a bit ad hoc and recycled from my childhood boats and stuff, as well as a cooker and a fridge.
She has some time taken and some history (boat, cooker, fridge, grubby fingers, children), so not pristine white. I guess I could have made her from new bricks but then that would defeat the purpose, I like the idea to turn one thing into another.

b 1971 UK Self taught artist working with many mediums but liking paint the best. Painting is just a language that I am more comfortable with, it has an honesty, it is what it is. My work is very unprocessed, direct, I don't see as I paint , just look at it sometime later, then start again or leave it alone until another time. I work with layers, building them up and scraping back, finding stuff I had forgotten about, the painting starts to get interesting, to develop its own past. The word paintings write themselves with no restraint, if I'm not sure I keep writing over, but ultimately the words, however buried, have been said.
