About The Artwork
This sculpture from the Lichtwuchs //Light Growth series appears charged with timeless presence. Through very massive and deeply furrowed structures, orange accentuated colour nuances predominantly mixed up in grey-white from all layers penetrate to the surface. Nothing can be precisely fixed or classified. An energetic concentrate of material, colour and form visibly increases in the upper areas of the sculpture and leads to a fruit-body-like unfolding process: thick, active orange, layered with silicone, cut elements of pre-recycled plastic, forming a kind of fully-grown seed body - shortly before bursting. A part of the creative work is the reuse - upcycling - and reshaping of preused plastics and materials. Kerstin Amend Pohlig is very concerned with giving value back to what has apparently become worthless - in unusual aesthetics with a lasting sense of purpose.
