Love Didn't Save Us focuses on the idea that, despite our best efforts driven by our strongest emotion, humanity will eventually cease to exist. An organ largely associated with life itself is shown missing vital anatomical structures and growing blue calcite crystals. This piece is from Tyra's Sustained Decay Series. Inspired by the finality of humanity, society, and Earth. This collection of 13 depicts familiar symbols of livelihood, civilization, and nature in various states of decay. The intention is to look at our current world through the lens of discovering it's remnants at some point in the future. Ultimately, encouraging viewers to reconcile their lives in contrast to the sustained deterioration that surrounds us.

Tyra Johnson is a self taught multi-disciplinary artist. She began her artistic journey with mixed media painting and developed a passion for sculpture, interior design, and architecture. In 2019, she chose to focus her efforts on sculpture and architecture. Tyra minimizes color and overall materials to lessen the environmental impact of her work. She is most fulfilled and inspired when spending time in nature. The geography and topography of her travels as a military child and later into adulthood heavily influence her work. She explores fixed ideals of human existence expressed through natural forms to challenge ingrained perspectives.
