VIEW IN MY ROOM
I got the idea for this object while looking at photos of African indigenous masks. I picked up a pencil and drew such a prototype of a modern European-looking man. For a few days, I tuned the shapes and devised a procedure for sanding and gluing it all together. I bought the glass in Ornela and had three glass blocks, two crystals and one green one melted in František Hut in Sázava. I ground them so that they were ready for water jet cutting according to the curves I modeled on the computer. This gave me the rough outlines of the Mask. I had the main features of the face, ears, mouth and hair cut quite quickly, but due to the fact that I have a workshop equipped relatively modestly, I finished most of the main details with a machined piece of glass, which I hand sanded and matted with spring water and powder abrasive. With the final polishing, I went to Peter Slavík in Nový Bor, who lent me machines in his workshop and finally helped me glue the finished pieces together. It was a long and laborious journey, but I am very satisfied with the result. The mask is fifty-four centimeters high and weighs fifteen kilograms.
