About The Artwork

~ Mayfair London ~ A sculpture of textured concrete with natural stone inserts and inter locked handle of stone on top. " Jenny’s journey in sculptural art is constantly evolving, and eliciting quiet wonderment. She started with her form-bending striped sculptures, continued on to thought-provoking cubes-on-cubes, dabbled with delightful miniatures , and recently she is focusing on architectural pieces. I think her older pieces are her expressions of forms manifested by the materials of stone, wood and concrete. They are often imbued with rich symbolism, and I am often lost in thoughts about its deeper, inner meaning. Her architectural works, beginning with longhouses, suggest a gradual emergence of function in her treatment of the form-function duality. Her current works on liftable buildings have taken her to a higher realm, what I would call dimensionally-reduced architectural forms of function. Creating a two and a half dimensions of functional reality, a midway between a two-dimensional painting and a three-dimensional sculpture. Her fondness for colourful symbolism persists, for example the use of the red and blue symbol of the London Underground juxtaposed with street names. To top it all, she installed a handle on top of her buildings — a surprising element indeed. Does this suggest humans and their buildings are in fact miniatures that can be easily lifted by greater and higher forms of being? I leave this to your imagination." - MS Wu (artcollector,Singapore)

A self-taught sculptor born in Miri, Sarawak Borneo but now based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Singapore. Previously an entrepreneur dealing with natural stones and veneer stones which I created for the interior design of residences and offices. Over the years, I have gained considerable experience working with these materials. In addition, I always have a great and unremitting passion for creating arts through dexterous manipulation of materials and structural forms. My goal is to create a colour of hope for humanity through arts, often at the periphery of seemingly boundless infinity. This hope is often expressed as an explosion of a spectrum of colours, each with its own strong vibrational energy. I like the viewers to experience this powerful feeling of continuous hope in their life’s journey. There is always hope at the turn of the road, at the next destination, at the darkest moment, at the lowest point, and at the end of a rainbow. I achieve my artistic goal through a fusion of colours, forms and textures. My preference is for stronger colours which can stir and resonate with the viewers’ emotions. Each colour has its own frequency and energy which evoke a feeling in a viewer. As for forms, I love working with intricate high and low reliefs, which significantly reinforce the three-dimensional visual and emotional effects. A viewer also experiences a temporal or flowing time effect as he moves his sight through and around the hills, valleys and mazes of my creation. Indeed, each hill, valley and maze have a unique sensibility as it is created with a harmonious balance of textures. This textural effect is brought upon by using materials such as natural stones, wood, concrete and metals. My artistic journey is to continue to the edge of a colourful and hopeful infinity!
