ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Closely linked to those around them, each person has their own knowledge, values and beliefs. Combined this creates a greater societal representation of what is perceived to be true, which grows and develops as perception gradually morphs into new ways of thinking. Mind Independence is part of the Veritas Lux Mea series and is made of painted paper form and inked dyed resin into each compartment. The red section in the top right hand corner lights up beautifully with back lighting. It comes with a bespoke European oak wood stand and the artwork is handmade in the artists studio.

Exploring philosophy of the mind is at the core of Natalja Heybroek's contemporary artwork. Using organic forms to create refined abstract art. Revealing unusual shapes and capabilities of materials, the unexpected intrigue in detailed organic forms have a tendency to connect with the viewer on an experiential level. The art is expressive and emergent, made with intricacy and a veiled sense of movement. Drawing the audience in, the work has a tendency to connect with the viewer on an experiential level. The Dutch autodidact artist, with a degree in economics, is currently based in Toronto. Her upbringing was in the international and creative environment of the Findhorn Foundation Community in rural Scotland; whilst being raised by Dutch parents. Art runs thick in her family history in Amsterdam, with a poet for a father, a great uncle architect Cuypers - creator of the Rijksmuseum, and her great grandparents were neighbours and friends of the Van Gogh family. The backbone of Natalja Heybroek’s artwork is the deliberate elemental concepts on which the art is based. Examining subjects such as the senses, human emotion, the unconscious mind, human environments, and personal beliefs. The visual elements in her work are combined with these thought-provoking concepts that originate from a desire to unearth a deeper understanding of the human mind.
