About The Artwork

Facial expression is a large and important part of communication. Currently most interactions are through social media or chat applications, too few words are said face to face, everything is written, mailed or sent. A large amount of nowadays needs for emoji or smileys is drawn from the human ability to read emotions from a person’s face. A certain movement of each facial muscle is crucial in a day to day conversation. Facial expressions throughout a conversation give basic information about the opposing parties. By reducing limbs and binding the torso with the head into one homogeny mass, the focus is on the emotions, thus creating eye contact.

I am a sculptor and medal maker from Croatia. My artwork focuses on people and their perception of themselves. The different versions of seeing yourself and seeing other people, several variants of displaying the inner state. Fine plastics have a more personal relation with the observer. The possibility to take an artwork in your hands, feel it and connect with it is much more natural and significant. The most fulfilling part of art projects is working in clay. Making something completely new, by using just your hands is a special privilege only artists can experience. In my work everything is based on drawings, therefore I tend to recreate it in an expanse drawing. For the illusion of brush strokes or thick pen lines I use wool and different thicknesses of threads with a sculptural association, creating a see-through 3D graphic installation. The monumentality of installations always interested me. The basic idea to create a piece in the exhibition room, only for the purpose of one space, makes the whole project unique. Although I have a love for installations my current occupation is the interpretation of the human perception of themselves through figurative a small plastics. My tendencies lay in the visualizations of a persons view in the mirror. Expressing the viewers reflection I try to focus them, not only on the fisical, but the emotional part of the mirror in front of them.
