About The Artwork

"Musical Bell" is based on an ancient Chinese instrument called the Bianzhong. Originally cast in bronze, the Bianzhong consisted of a set of bells played melodically across 5 octaves. They produced a clear, bright sound and were integral in royal ceremonies and performances. Sheng re-imagines the Bianzhong by transforming them into vivid pieces of hand-blown glass inflected with vibrant strokes of color. When struck with light, each bell washes its surroundings in a beautiful green hue. "Musical Bell" can be purchased individually for $12,000 each or as a set of eight.
