MIKHAIL GUBIN WAS BORN IN THE SOVIET UNION IN 1953. HE STUDIED AT THE ART AND TECHNOLOGY COLLEGE IN ZAGORSK, MOSCOW REGION. IN 1989 MIKHAIL GUBIN IMMIGRATED TO NEW YORK BY WAY OF VIENNA AND ROME. HIS MULTIMEDIA PRACTICE INCLUDES SCULPTURE, PHOTOGRAPHY, DRAWINGS, PAINTINGS, COLLAGE, INSTALLATION, AND VIDEO. HE PARTICIPATED IN 37 SOLO SHOWS AND OVER 200 GROUP EXHIBITIONS IN THE UNITED STATES AND INTERNATIONALLY, RECEIVING MULTIPLE AWARDS AND PRAISING REVIEWS FROM THE NEW YORK TIMES AMONG MANY OTHERS. HE HAS BEING AWARDED A 2014 NYFA FELLOWSHIP IN THE CATEGORY OF CRAFTS/SCULPTURE. GUBIN IS A MEMBER OF THE AUDOBON ARTISTS, THE NATIONAL COLLAGE SOCIETY AND SCULPTORS GUILD OF NEW YORK.
