This piece is part of a series of 24 small sculptures that I am in the middle of making. They are made strictly from materials that I had/ have at hand. Relying on my ability to produce a viable sculpture from materials immediately available was part of the project. They are a blend of wood, metal, textiles, paper clay, leather, nails and string. All of these materials were upcycled from old furniture, old shoes, clay dug up from an ancient lake bed that surrounds my house, nails recovered from old timbers that I have upcycled and textiles that I have collected over the years. The torso is made of 300 year old Tull (Nordic pine) appropriated -with permission-from a neighbour's property. The stand is laminated oak. The head is paper clay. The arms and legs are made from Elm.

Marc Rayner Born 1959 in Wollongong, N.S.W, Australia. Currently lives and works in central Sweden. The integration of quasi architectural and natural landscapes forms the spine of my social, historical and political commentary. Neoexpressionism is my sphere of operation. It suits my temperament. The Neoexpressionist genre also accurately reflects the distorted paradigm in which we live.
