Níčko is what I call a "Suspended Tensegrity Sculpture", which is inspired by my interest as an architect in the special field of fabric architecture where architects and engineers utilize tensioned fabrics in specific ways to create elegant building structures. This suspended tensegrity sculpture spins elegantly with air flow, and its white fabric panels interact with light beautifully. When viewed from different angles or with changing natural light, it evokes varied emotions in the viewer according to the viewer's unique perceptions of its space and form. This suspended tensegrity sculpture is made of synthetic fabric and stainless steel. The slightly translucent fabric is made of mostly polyester and some spandex, and it allows some light to come through. The fabric is very durable, but it is suited for indoor environments only. This is one of two Níčkos ever produced, and they are in different sizes; each suspended tensegrity sculpture is unique in size, if not unique in design. The top rod has fine engravings at its two ends; one shows the artist's signature, and the other shows the year of production. (Please refer to the photo) Installation is easy. The center of the top rod of this suspended tensegrity sculpture has a swivel with a ring at the top. All needed at the ceiling is one anchor point suited for the weight of the sculpture, which is just a few pounds. A clear nylon or nylon coated wire of sufficient strength (e.g. 60lbs) will be perfect for suspending this sculpture from the ceiling. Installation service is available upon request. This suspended tensegrity sculpture is collapsible, and it will be shipped in a cardboard box significantly smaller than the sculpture dimensions.
