Neon Orb 163 was created in early 2016 as part of a new body of work which was displayed at The Other Art Fair in April. The aim of this neon series is to introduce light into my work but in a tasteful way. I want to hide the wires so the viewer is intrigued and questions what material appears suspended at the centre of the sculpture and how it’s powered.

Mark Beattie MRSS is a British award-winning sculptor who creates abstract sculptures that range in size from miniature to monumental. He was been elected to the Royal Society of Sculptors in 2015. Mark creates abstract sculptures using various metals; each sculpture is unique and finished in a way that is sensitive to the material. He has developed a signature style through which his sculptures contain movement and fluidity. Mark has recently started using neon which works in harmony with his metalwork and has added a sense of energy to his practice. To date Mark has exhibited in over 60 exhibitions, either in a group or as a solo artist and has a strong following of collectors worldwide. His work is in corporate and private collections throughout Europe, Asia, South America, Australia and the USA. A more detailed artist statement can be found on his website.
