Daniel Krantz works in the direction of modern abstractionism and geometric abstraction. There are followed ethnic and naturalistic motives in his compositions. Daniel was born and grew up in Jurmala. His way to recognition and popularity took almost fifteen years. Grown up in a family of doctors, Daniel chose for himself to become a children`s surgeon. Hours spent in the operating room and saving lives of small patients do not dispose much to creativity, however in those very years Daniel created his first abstract compositions. Relatives, friends and visitors of his consulting room were the spectators and critics. «The doctor is called to treat the body, but after all, the soul of the doctor must be treated somehow. I chose painting, or maybe it chose me», says Daniel about the "medical" period of his work. Fame came to the artist only a few years later, when one of his abstract works was noticed as the best at the competition of young artists in Prague. Daniel left clinical practice, received basic art education at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts and devoted himself entirely to creativity. Travelling has significant influence on the artist's work. Considerable for his creative discoveries, the artist considers Central Asia, the Caucasus, volcanoes of Iceland. Inspired by simple everyday subjects, children's memories, natural motives, Daniel fills his works with the expression of forms and bright geometric transitions in the spirit of the classics of «painting of rigid contours», such as Karl Benjamin and Al Held. Daniel continues to paint a lot for friends, only occasionally participating in exhibitions and biennale. The artist's works were exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Kraków, at the Art Gallery in Helsinki, at the Sprengel Museum in Hanover. In his Instagram blog Daniel acquaints readers with the process of creating canvases, making them partners in the creative search and realization of his bright ideas.
