This object is part of the series "The Unpredictability of Things".

In my current work, I am researching the spatial possibilities of drawing - the relationship between two-dimensional space (drawing) and three-dimensional space (sculpture /object).

My interest is especially in the line, not only as a structuring element of space, through which we make the perception of the images, but also as an essential element in the definition of nets, through their repetition.

For me nets are very interesting, because they do not only suggest the idea of connections that we have in our nature ( body and mind) but also shows the connections that we have in the world where we live and that we know ( in society and in natural world).

That is why I’m now particularly interested in the coiled line, which creates chaotic organic looking webs. The idea is to relate the connections of these different universes, not only to expose their complexities and fragilities, but mainly to show their similarities.

So in the construction of my sculptures, I use materials that can reproduce this "lines" - hot glue, kitchen scrub wires, or even wire.

Along with these ideas, I use other concepts to objectify my objects, such as; unit, multiplication, deconstruction, complementarity, opposition and transformation.

This object is built with 22 horizontal empty cylinders made in hot glue with iron structure, painted with glossy black.

I am born in Lisbon in 1960 and I live and work in Palmela. My academic formation, was decisive for my work as a visual artist, once it gave me a better understanding of Space and its mutation in Time, as well as the desire for exploration and experimentation of new materials, I started to make exhibitions as a painter in 96. Over the years, I developed my work through visual and written research on contemporary art. In 2011, I abandoned painting, and I started to investigate human perception of visual elements, within the transparent bi dimensional supports. Now I'm looking for their relationship in sculpture. The main influences in my work, come from observation of nature ( mainly the human nature), the reading of philosophical authors, and a special friendship, with the painter Fernando Calhau. This association of factors in conjunction with intuition and experience, has transforme my first contents of work, in poetic thoughts of philosophical nature, formalize more and more in the sum of many subtractions.
