ABOUT THE ARTWORK
“Onda II” is freestanding pedestal sculpture of wood and stone. Portuguese for “wave,” the piece is inspired by the musical genre of Bossa Nova. In this work, I endeavored to capture the essence of the “new wave.” Cool tones, improvisation, and cadence dominate this piece, which combines the lyricism and rhythms of the Samba with the structure and beat of Jazz.
