Phoenix #5 Sculpture

This second series of sculptures started in 2021 and completed in 2023 pays homage to the environment, climate change and mother nature's elements of nature - wind, water, earth, air and fire. Inspired by one of my illustrations, This original one of a kind decorative wall sculpture, made by hand from white raku clay. Inspired by the phoenix who is an immortal bird that cyclically regenerates or is otherwise born again. While it's part of Greek mythology, it has analogs in many cultures such as Egyptian and Persian. Associated with the sun, a phoenix obtains new life by rising from the ashes of its predecessor. This sculpture was broken at one point, inspired by the kintsugi repairing technique, in this instance glued back together with epoxy glue then spray painted in metallic rose gold, embellished with pointillism, interesting texture and ornate decoration then sprayed with a clear UV protection varnish to bring it back to life and to give the sculpture a more luxurious appearance The break point of the sculpture is not visible. It is inspired by the belief in the beauty of imperfections and the rise of the phoenix. An organic evolution with each sculpture, each piece is unique, no two are the same. Displayed together as a series this will be stunning addition to any wall space, a unique conversation piece.
