Art Description

Sculpture: Found Objects, Metal, Wood, Household on Stainless Steel, Wood, Plastic.

The table was cast aside as a useless item, missing a leg. I saw the potential and rescued it. Enjoying the interplay and contradiction of opposites I decided to repair the fallen table and give it back some use and dignity. I appreciate the notion that the modern is juxtoposed with the old, giving new meaning and a lease of life. I am offering the opportunity of comparison - the old, decorative, 'antique' style propped up with a crisp, clean, modern, no-nonsense practical solution. Subconsciously, to begin with at least, I may have been influenced by the fact that I personally have a prosthetic shoulder joint that is also silvery and shiney, ftted into an ageing body. This sculpture is the first of two. See Prosthetic 2 also
